Why don't school jumpers ever get lonely?
Because they're always getting picked up!
As we embrace the changing season and the reflective spirit it brings, I am delighted to share some of the recent highlights from our vibrant and busy school community.
Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating Catholic Education Week with a beautiful Mass at St Mary’s Church. It was a special occasion that brought together students and staff from St Brendan’s, Sacred Heart, and St Mary’s Primary Schools. Trinity College was proudly represented by a selection of our students, who participated reverently and with great pride. It was a wonderful reminder of the shared faith and values that unite our Catholic education community.
We also welcomed the families of our Year 7 2026 students for their initial transition interviews. It was a joy to meet these young learners and their families, and to begin building the relationships that will support a smooth and successful transition into secondary school life. These interviews mark the first step in our comprehensive transition program, which will continue in Term 4 with a family BBQ and Orientation Day.
Our Year 7 and 8 students recently competed in the Coastal Football and Netball competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. They played with enthusiasm, teamwork and great sportsmanship, and we are thrilled that Trinity College has advanced to the next stage in all events. Congratulations to all involved!
We are currently observing Reconciliation Week, a time to reflect on our shared history and to strengthen our commitment to truth and healing. Last week, our ATSI Coordinator, Mrs Anne McCrickard, hosted a morning tea for our Indigenous students and their families. She has also provided a rich array of resources for staff and students, helping us to engage meaningfully with significant moments in Australia’s history, including Mabo Day.
Looking ahead, we are excited to showcase the talents of our music students at the upcoming Semester One Music Evening on Wednesday 11 June. These performances are always a highlight of the term, and we look forward to celebrating the creativity and dedication of our young musicians.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in the life of our College. May the beginning of winter bring moments of warmth, reflection, and community for us all.
Warm regards,
Mr Paul Clohesy
Principal
Students from Years 9 to 12 recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Careers Expo held at COPACC and proudly hosted by MIXX FM. The day was a tremendous success, with students enthusiastically engaging with a wide range of local businesses, industries and education providers.
With many local exhibitors on-site, the Careers Expo offered something for every student, whether they were beginning to explore future possibilities or refining their post-school pathway. Year 9 and 10 students eagerly asked questions and gathered valuable insights into the many career options available within our region and beyond. Meanwhile, Year 11 and 12 students took full advantage of the opportunity to have more targeted conversations about apprenticeships and employment prospects.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated confidence and initiative in their conversations, and it was fantastic to see so many of them leaving inspired, informed and excited about the future.
We extend our thanks to MIXX FM for organising such a valuable event and to all the local businesses and organisations who generously gave their time to support and mentor our students. Opportunities like this strengthen the connection between education and the workforce and provide our students with an invaluable glimpse into the many paths available beyond the school gates.

Last week, the Concert Band, Junior/Intermediate Band and String Ensemble entertained students at local Primary Schools as part of Catholic Education Week.
Monday included visits to Alvie and St Brendan's Primary Schools, with these being the first performances for our Junior Students. While there were nerves, the students performed well, and their confidence grew over the week.
On Wednesday, we visited St Mary's and performed for Grade 3/4. This was the String Ensemble's first performance this year. Friday afternoon saw us all walk across to Sacred Heart, where we celebrated with staff and students by performing our favourite pieces for the week, including Star Wars, YMCA and Thriller for the Senior Group and 6 short pieces for the Junior Group. The String Ensemble also performed again with their two pieces.
These performances have built confidence, camaraderie and musical ability as well as showcased to the Community the amazing talent we have in the Trinity College Music Program. Students displayed all Trinity values while away and should be proud of their achievements and involvement this week.
The next music events for the College include the Warrnambool Eisteddfod on Tuesday 10 June for the Vocal Ensemble and Trios, followed by the Semester 1 Music Night on Wednesday 11 June with a 6pm start in the Jubilee Centre, all welcome.

The Intermediate Boys and Intermediate and Senior Girls have officially kicked off their netball season, competing in the Coastal Division of the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Netball Competition. A great start to what promises to be an exciting season ahead!
On Wednesday 14 May, the Intermediate boys travelled to Blue Water Fitness to compete against Colac Secondary College (CSC). The game consisted of 4 x 8-minute quarters and the winner would progress to the next stage of the School Sport Victoria competition. The Trinity boys displayed controlled netball through the first and second quarters to lead comfortably at each break, however CSC lifted in the third quarter to win that quarter by one, before the Trinity team responded with a strong last quarter to secure a comfortable 16 goal win and progress through to the Greater Western Region competition.
Team members: Sid (Year 10), Jarvis (Year 10), Nate (Year 9), Levi (Year 9), Reece (Year 9), Jarryn (Year 9), Izaac (Year 10), Goanar (Year 10), Max (Year 10) and George (Year 10).
On Thursday 15 May, Trinity’s Intermediate and Senior Netball teams attended Central Reserve to participate in the Coastal Division tournament of the School Sport Victoria competition.
The Intermediate Red team played three games across the day and finished with two wins and one loss. They beat CSC in round 1 before going on to beat Lorne in round 2. They took good form into their third match against Trinity Blue (the other Intermediate team), however, Trinity Blue made better use of their opportunities, and Red went down in a hard-fought game.
Team members: Addy (Year 9), Isabelle (Year 9), Isla (Year 10), Olivia (Year 9), Remi (Year 10), Luella (Year 10), Jess (Year 10), Milah (Year 9), Ruby (Year 10) and Stella (Year 9).
The Intermediate Blue team was scheduled to play three games for the day and their skills and intensity were too strong for the other sides, resulting in them ending the day undefeated and therefore progressing through to the Greater Western Division Competition. Trinity Blue had a convincing win in their first game against CSC and an even stronger performance against Lorne. Trinity Red competed hard against them, but the Blue team were too strong in the end.
Team members: Jess (Year 10), Emmy (Year 10), Ashlin (Year 9), Harmony (Year 10), Izzy (Year 10), Molly (Year 9), Izzy (Year 10), Georgia (Year 9) and Stella (Year 10).
Trinity’s Senior team had two opponents on the day. In round 1, they asserted their dominance with a comfortable win against CSC before continuing that form against a hard-working Apollo Bay team. With those two wins, the Senior team progresses through to the next stage of the competition.
Team members: Olivia (Year 12), Remy (Year 11), Tess (Year 11), Rylee (Year 11), Georgia (Year 11), Mia (Year 11), Mia (Year 11), Poppy (Year 11), Sienna (Year 12), Kiara (Year 11) and Neve (Year 11).
At the end of the day, the Trinity Intermediate Blue and Senior teams played off in a practice match, and the game was played at a fierce intensity with an excellent level of skill shown. The Intermediate team ran away with the victory in the end, with their defence coming out on top of the senior attack end. The game showcased the talent of Trinity netball, and we look forward to seeing what both teams can accomplish as the year progresses.

Trinity College hosted the Greater Western Region Boys Netball tournament at Blue Water Fitness on Wednesday 21 May. Teams from all over the region travelled to Colac to compete in either the Junior, Intermediate or Senior boys netball competition. Each game was 2 x 12-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime break.
The Trinity Intermediate team was scheduled to play three games across the day, with the first in the first round against Warracknabeal Secondary College. The Trinity team displayed excellent skills to get out to an early lead and remain in control for the entire game. Their pace and skill were too much for Warracknabeal, and the result was a comfortable 24-4 win to Trinity.
The second game of the day had them competing against Terang College, and once again their control, skill and intensity overpowered their opposition, leading to a decisive 26-7 win.
They went into the last game of the day against Ballarat High School in excellent form. Although Ballarat tried to compete, the Trinity team was too skilful. Trinity’s footwork and ball control were too good, and the team ended the day with another comprehensive 24-4 win.
The Trinity boys have been dedicated to learning the game and developing their skills through training and all that work showed on the court. Their clean footwork and skills, and the connections in transition from one end to the other, were far superior to any of their opponents, allowing them to finish the day undefeated and progress through to the State Finals of the School Sport Victoria competition. The boys should be very proud of their efforts and commitment, and we are very excited to see what this team can accomplish at the State finals.
Team members: Sid (Year 10), Nate (Year 9), Levi (Year 9), Reece (Year 9), Jarryn (Year 9), Izaac (Year 10), Goanar (Year 10), Max (Year 10) and George (Year 10).
