Principal's Message
As we draw the curtain on what has been a busy and productive Term 2, I would like to take a moment to thank our students for their continued efforts and commitment to their learning. It has been a term filled with academic rigour, community engagement, and personal growth, and I am incredibly proud of the way our students have conducted themselves. I also extend my sincere thanks to our families for their ongoing support—your partnership is vital in helping our young people thrive.
Last week, our Year 10 and 11 students completed their Semester 1 examinations. These assessments are an important milestone in their academic journey, and I commend all students for the mature and diligent way they approached both their preparation and the exams themselves. The resilience and focus they demonstrated are to be celebrated.
Also, during the final week of term, our Year 10 students participated in Work Experience across a wide range of industries and businesses in Colac and the surrounding region. This program plays a vital role in helping students explore potential career pathways and make informed decisions about their future. I would like to sincerely thank the many local businesses who generously hosted our students, taking time out of their busy schedules to teach, mentor and support them. Your contribution to our students’ learning is deeply appreciated.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we begin the important process of subject selection for our current Year 9 and 10 students. This is a significant step in shaping their educational pathways, and we are committed to providing comprehensive information and guidance to support both students and their families. Having conversations at home is invaluable and will help students make informed and confident decisions. In addition to the resources provided, we will be conducting individual interviews with all Year 9 and 10 students to offer tailored support and advice.
On the final day of term, our College community came together in support of the Vinnie's Winter Appeal. Students were invited to wear casual clothes in exchange for a gold coin donation or a contribution of warm clothing. The response was outstanding, and I thank our parents and carers for their generosity. Initiatives like this are a vital expression of our Catholic identity, fostering empathy and awareness for those in our community who are doing it tough.
As always, the end of term brings with it the significant task of correcting exams and preparing student reports. I would like to acknowledge the hard work and professionalism of our teaching staff during this time. Their dedication ensures that each student receives meaningful feedback to support their continued growth.
Term 3 promises to be another full and exciting chapter, though we are mindful that several staff members will be on leave throughout the term. We will be utilising our pool of casual teachers to maintain continuity of learning, but there may be occasions where classes are combined or directed to the Resource Centre to complete their work independently. The frequency of this will depend on our ability to access Casual Relief Teachers and the number of unplanned absences due to illness or caring responsibilities. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these challenges.
We are also very pleased to be welcoming our new Deputy Principal, Dr Lucy Cassar, at the beginning of next term. Lucy brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student wellbeing and academic excellence. You can read more about Lucy in this edition of the newsletter.
To all our students and families, I wish you a safe, restful, and well-deserved holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 21 July, refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
Please note that from the beginning of Term 3, our newsletter will be published every three weeks instead of every two weeks.
Warm regards,
Mr Paul Clohesy

Our Newly Appointed Deputy Principal
Our Newly Appointed Deputy Principal
My name is Lucy Cassar, and I’m honoured to be joining Trinity College as Deputy Principal. From my very first conversations with staff, it was clear that this is a community built on strong relationships, shared values, and a genuine commitment to student growth and wellbeing.
I’ve worked in various education sectors for over 15 years, with experience as both a teacher and a Learning and Teaching leader. My background is in science education, and I’m passionate about creating inclusive learning environments that are engaging and focused on helping young people flourish, both academically and personally.
What drew me to Trinity was its strong sense of connection and its commitment to educating the whole person. I look forward to working in partnership with students, families, and staff as we continue to build a culture of excellence, compassion, and faith in action.
Away from work, I treasure my time with my two children—whether we’re baking, gardening, or exploring rockpools along the coast. These everyday experiences remind me of the joy found in curiosity, connection, and slowing down—qualities that also enrich my work as an educator and leader.
I feel grateful to be stepping into this new chapter and am excited to get to know the Trinity community in the weeks and months ahead.
Warm regards,
Dr Lucy Cassar
Deputy Principal

Successful Examination Period for Year 10 & 11 Students
Successful Examination Period for Year 10 & 11 Students
As we approach the end of the semester, we are proud to reflect on a smooth and successful examination period for our Year 10 and Year 11 students. Across all subjects, students demonstrated a commendable level of focus, maturity, and respect for the examination process.
Throughout the exam weeks, students arrived prepared and conducted themselves with integrity and calm under pressure. Their positive attitude and responsible behaviour created an environment that was both productive and respectful—an achievement worth celebrating.
Our dedicated teaching staff worked diligently in marking the assessments. These results will be thoughtfully compiled and shared with families in the end-of-semester reports. These reports will provide valuable insights into each student’s progress and achievements so far this year.
We congratulate all students on their efforts and thank our teachers for their continued commitment to supporting student success.

Senior Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
Senior Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
On Tuesday 10 June, Trinity’s Senior and Intermediate netball teams travelled to Ballarat to compete in the Greater Western stage of the School Sport Victoria competition.
The senior girls team consisted of Kiara (Year 11), Sienna (Year 12), Georgia (Year 11), Poppy (Year 11), Mia (Year 11), Rylee (Year 11), Tess (Year 11), Olivia (Year 12), Mia (Year 11), and Remy (Year 11).
The team was scheduled to play three games throughout the day, back-to-back, leaving no games off in between. In their first game of the day, they played Emmanuel College and although Trinity dominated the first few minutes, an injury to Kiara (Year 11) allowed Emmanuel to get back in the game. It was a tight contest for the remainder of the game, with neither team being able to pull away from the other. It was a draw or a 1-point margin for most of the game, and the final siren came at a lucky time for Emmanuel, giving them a 20-19 win.
The Trinity team had convincing wins in their second and third games. Completely in control at all times of both games. The girls displayed excellent netball to beat Horsham College 30-22 and then Ballarat High School 26-14. These results moved Trinity into the grand final, which would see a rematch between Trinity and Emmanuel.
From the first whistle, it was obvious that the Trinity team was out for redemption. Their netball found another level and their work rate overpowered Emmanuel, resulting in Trinity breaking the game open early. Trinity proved too strong all over the court, with the defenders constantly taking intercepts and the mids and goalers scoring freely. It was a physical game, but even when Emmanuel lifted to put in a last-ditch effort to try to bridge the gap, Trinity held strong, winning the game 24-19. This grand final win progresses the Trinity team through to the State Finals of the School Sport Victoria competition.
The state finals will be held later this year at the Waverly Netball Centre, and we are excited to see what they can achieve against the best netballers in our state.
Congratulations to all players involved. You produced excellent netball and were great representatives of our College.

Intermediate Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
Intermediate Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
Our Year 9 and 10 netball team had a great day at the Greater Western Netball Competition, competing in a single pool across four competitive games. The team showcased exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Despite the intensity of the matches, our team only dropped one game to Emmanuel College, securing an impressive second place overall. Each game was highly contested, and the depth of our squad allowed for rolling substitutions with minimal disruption to our gameplay, highlighting the versatility and cohesion of our players.
The team demonstrated excellent teamwork, strategic play, and strong communication, making us proud of their efforts and sportsmanship. Special recognition goes to our Players of the Day:
Emmy (Year 10) – for her consistent performance and leadership on court.
Izzy (Year 10) – for her agility and sharp decision-making.
Harmony (Year 10) – for her defensive strength and relentless energy.
Congratulations to all players for a fantastic day of netball. Your hard work and team spirit truly shone through!

Junior Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
Junior Girls Netball Greater Western Competition
On Wednesday 25 June the Trinity 7A and 8A netball teams travelled to the Ballarat Netball Centre to compete in the SSV Greater Western division competition day. Both teams were scheduled to play 4 games throughout the day in a round robin format. There were no finals; the school that finished on top of the ladder at the completion of the draw progressed through to the State Finals later in the year.
The Year 7 team started their day well against Beaufort SC, producing a comfortable 26-7 goal win. They faced Horsham College in round two, who challenged them at times, but the girls were able to maintain control and win that game 20-16. In the third round, they came up against Emmanuel College. Emmanuel was simply too tall, strong, and skilled across the whole court. The Trinity team put up a good fight, however, Emmanuel ran away with a 25-15 goal win. The Year 7’s bounced back and finished their day with a great 21-10 win against Timboon P-12 College, ending their day with 3 wins and 1 loss. These results placed them in second spot on the ladder, and therefore, they will not progress through to the next stage. The team produced excellent netball on the day and should be very proud of how they represented our College.
7A Team: Harriet, Milly, Ruby, Tahlia, Winnie, Nat, Jayla, Lexi and Norah.
The Trinity Year 8’s started their day with a game against Emmanuel College. Going into the day, they were considered to be our biggest competitor, however, the Trinity side displayed excellent netball to run away with a 29-19 goal win. They carried that form into round two against Horsham College, winning that game 20-14. Rounds three and four were much the same, with our Trinity side simply being too skilled and controlled for their opposition. They defeated Ballarat High School 21-6 and then Timboon P-12 College 27-16, leaving them undefeated at the end of the draw. This placed them on top of the ladder, and the team progresses through to the State Finals in Waverly later this year. The skill, experience and teamwork shown by these girls throughout the day were very impressive, and we are excited to see what they can accomplish at the State finals.
8A Team: Freya, Ebony, Lila, Livi, Stella, Georgia, Astin, Indie and Scarlett.
Congratulations to all players who participated on this day. You displayed great skill and character and did our College proud.

End of Semester Reports and Trinity Difference Awards
End of Semester Reports will be available on the afternoon of Friday 4 July. These reports provide valuable insight into your child’s academic progress, learning behaviours, and areas for future growth.
The next formal opportunity to meet with teachers will be at the Student Learning Conversations on Monday 2 September. However, if your child’s report raises any questions or concerns, we strongly encourage you to reach out via email to arrange a conversation with the relevant staff members prior to this date.
As we close out the semester, we also celebrate students who exemplify the core values of our community through the Trinity Difference Awards. Each teacher will present three awards per subject—one for each of the Trinity Difference categories: Knowledge, Skills and Character.
These awards will be presented during Year Level Assemblies in the first few weeks of Term 3, recognising and honouring students who have made a meaningful impact in their learning and classroom communities.

Subject Selection for 2026 – Important Information for Year 9, 10 & 11 Students and Families
Subject Selection for 2026 – Important Information for Year 9, 10 & 11 Students and Families
As we begin planning for the 2026 academic year, I would like to share some important information regarding subject selection for our current Year 9, 10, and 11 students.
On Tuesday 29 July, students will attend presentations outlining the subject selection process. During these sessions, students will receive the 2026 Curriculum Handbook, which includes detailed information about available subjects, pathways, and opportunities for further study.
We strongly encourage parents and guardians to engage in conversations with their children about their interests, strengths, and future aspirations. These discussions are vital in helping students make informed and meaningful choices.
To support this process, we will be holding Subject Selection Interviews on Tuesday 5 August. These interviews are an excellent opportunity for students and families to meet with teachers, ask questions, and receive guidance on subject choices and pathway planning. We highly encourage all families to attend.
In addition:
Accelerated VET subject information will be distributed this week to Year 9 and 10 families.
VCE Accelerated Subject Applications will open in Term 3 for eligible students wishing to undertake advanced studies in 2026.
We look forward to supporting each student in making confident and informed decisions about their learning journey.
